Most Beautiful Pavillion at Expo 2020

Representing the best of itself Dubai is all set to host its mega fair Expo 2020 on 20th October 2020. In November 2013, the United Arab Emirates won the pledge to host the World Expo in Dubai in 2020 by The Bureau International des Expositions (BIE), a general assembly in Paris. Since the first great fair of 1851, This is going to be the first time that the World Expo will be staged in the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia (MEASA). Dubai Expo 2020, a remarkable platform for international dialogue to create and innovate things for the progress and improvement of a city or a country representing the technology and ideas. Expo 2020 is going to be a magnificent technical fair that would be very unique from any world fair before it. This expo 2020 will be focused on innovative technology, creativity and the infrastructure itself will be shown in digital cities.

As a long term resident of the UAE, of course, the Santiago Calatrava designed, the aviary-inspired, magnificent infrastructure of the UAE pavilion will represent the best thing among the architecture. But as designs for more and more pavilions are revealed, some are spectacular in its infrastructure. Many countries have shown their creativity in designing pavillions. Some of them are:

Saudi Arabia’s Contribution

Saudi Arabia is considered one of the largest oil producers all over the world. Saudi Arabia is now going to distract itself from an oil and gas industry-based economy, and this country is now going to attract tourists by its pavilions; at the Expo2020, this will literally show a way to change their priorities. This will hugely affect the tourism industry of the country, and their magnificent pavilion will be the impeccable gateway to begin what Saudi Arabia has to contribute to the world. This will be home to an immersive experience of the Kingdom’s transition, those diagonal monolithic mass will rise from the ground and will gradually touch the sky, presenting curators with pockets to innovate tableaus, equally managing Saudi Arabia’s traditions with its present and future. Externally, digitized screens will reflect the creativity of the country.

Contribution of Sweden

Stockholm-based architects Alessandro Ripellino and, Studio Adrien Gardere and Luigi Pardo Architetti have designed the pavilion decorated with the eastern and western touches. The theme of the expo will be nature-based, graffiti and posts will show the tree trunks which will drive attraction of nature lovers and will give the exact feeling of walking through a Nordic woods. At exhibitions and cafes,  offices and conference rooms will be raised aloft — like treehouses — forming a roof over areas of the pavilion, at the ground level these ‘trunks’ will establish the public areas .  will inform the design of the wooden lattice screens based on Islamic geometry that will be made up of the tree houses. The tree shades make a shelter like impression and create a dazzling play of light — not far removed from the visual effect of the Sun seeping through the verdant forests of Sweden.

Spain’s Contribution

Renowned architects Amann-Canovas-Maruri from Madrid gave his perfect sculpture for the Spanish Pavilion features with a series of conical shape structures that are designed to balance the acoustic and thermal insulation. The amazing infrastructure is constructed by using recyclable materials such as iron and wood, and fabric, and referencing the combination of traditional and modern insulation techniques jewelled with innovative technologies, the structure will completely shelter the basement of the exhibition space that will be dedicated to open public areas for entertainment purpose. The Pavilion is going to acknowledge Spain’s Hispanic-Arab past and will give a glance to the period of Islamic rule from 711-1492, referred to as the ‘Golden Age’ of religious and maintain an ethnic balance between the three Abrahamic religions.

Brazil’s Contribution

Architecture firms Ben-Avid, ARQ and MMBB Arquitetos' mutual collaboration will give a magnificent touch that will drive visitors back into the rivers, waters, and nature of Brazil— without even leaving the Dubai Expo2020 location.

The shallow pool of water is completely surrounding, in a tensile structure is completely made of a white fabric that would be of lightweight, the pavilion will become an attraction for nature lovers. Endless landscapes of green vegetation overwhelmed rivers, and limitless blue skies will surround the visitors and the visuals are directly projected onto the tensile structured envelope and transparently mirrored on the water below. The reflection pool — will give a magical touch to nature, even if it’s only an illusion. It is this, that sense of illusion, that should spurn us into thoughtful action — for one day, the abundance of nature might be reduced to just that, a mirage.
