Bahrain All Set to Open Its First Thai-Inspired Mall in Q4

In 2019, Thai Market in Bahrain is set to open and become an essential milestone for Thai business. It is a complete Thai shopping mall covering an area of 6,700 sq. m in Bahrain’s Manama. The project is an excellent and robust collaboration between Thailand’s Vega Intertrade and Exhibitions LLC, and Bahrain counterpart Diyar Al Muharraq. The shopping store covers an area of 55,000 sq.m featuring around 800 wholesale and retail shops of Chinese products. Opened in 2015, the Dragon Mart has received overwhelming feedback from the locals and tourists across the region, particularly those from Saudi Arabia. In 2017, the mart welcomed over 7 million visitors.

In an announcement, Vega Thaimart said it signed up Crown Electro-Mechanical Services as the principal contractor for the project that will be situated within Bahrain’s Diyar Al Muharraq development. Once it opens, Thaimart will be the region’s first Thai-inspired shopping target. According to the news from Vega Thaimart, approximately 60 percent of the rental spaces at the forthcoming development have already been leased.

The facility is slated for transfer on or before October 1. By then, the developers say, the site will be open for most mall renters to come in and begin their fit-out work. Thaimart will highlight products from various Thai retailers, as well as have a food court with Thai and international restaurants, jeweler zones and a specialized children’s area.

The stable business relationship between Thailand and Bahrain resulted in the birth of Thaimart. With continuous economic provision from both allies, they develop long and robust collaboration which supports the new iconic Thai shopping destination at the southwest corner of Diyar Al Muharraq. Thaimart aims to provide a wide range of striking Thai architecture, showcasing the trendiest and most exciting products and services from their nation under one roof. It will also boost the shopping understanding with its impressive line-up of Thai retailers unmatched by any mall in Bahrain. Thaimart will have a food court with tasteful Thai, global restaurants and regional chains. Jewelry zones, kids’ area and shopping alleys planned with security and convenience optimization to the retail outlets, it added.

The Vega Thaimart CEO Akavut Tangilikusonwong said, ‘With stable growth on both construction and leasing, endless support from Diyar Al Muharraq and different Thailand official sectors, we look forward to launching Thaimart to the public during the last quarter of this year and offer a unique and diverse shopping experience for the families and visitors.’
