The Abu Dhabi Vision 2030

The Abu Dhabi Vision 2030 focuses on the upliftment of the urban structure for the evolution of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. The Emirate’s population is expected to grow by three million and might cross five million by 2030.

An urban structure has been built to come up with conceptual solutions to diversify the growth perspectives for the region and ease the business setup solutions for the investors. The two pillars of the Abu Dhabi Vision are –

  1. Economic Vision 2030
  2. Urban Planning Vision 2030.

The Plan Abu Dhabi 2030

The Urban Planning Council (UPC) is the authority necessary for developing the Urban Planning Vision as part of the overall Abu Dhabi Vision 2030. The aim is to provide high-quality living standards in terms of community planning and infrastructure to suit the cultural shift and population demographic growth that Abu Dhabi has experienced in recent years.

To develop sustainable smart cities, the government is focusing on increasing infrastructure capacity to support business setup in Abu Dhabi, along with ensuring that the new plan will incorporate the usage of renewable sources of energy such as solar power and hydroelectric power. The overall aim is to create concrete plans and feasible policies to ensure the city emits the radiance of a modern-day 21st-century Emirate that is the proud capital of the United Arab Emirates.

An urban structure framework has been planned to bring out unique developments. The sketch of the urban structure framework includes four sections, namely:

Framework 1: Environmental Framework

The Emirate is on the way to building a favorable environment that would create ideal conditions for mangroves and vibrant natural life. Best practices are kept into consideration to protect marine life.

A step has been taken forward to establish the National Park System to preserve wildlife and cultivate a rich culture. Since environmental conditions matter a lot to the business development process, the enrichment of nature will indirectly provide a favorable climate for business owners to come forward and set up their businesses.

Framework 2: Land Use Framework

The next framework deals with the appropriate use of land to fit the growing population accordingly.  Strategic moves are to be built to make the best utilization of land allocation.

It includes the development of the following:

  • Central Business District
  • Capital District
  • Define Limits for the City.

Framework 3: Transport Framework

Transportation plays a vital role when it comes to the business world. Ranging from import/ export to the covering of the nearby areas, a robust transport network is essential.

Abu Dhabi is on its way to building a well-convinced transportation network that will help business entities to carry out their operations effectively.

Framework 4: Public Open Spaces Framework

The next focus is on developing the public open spaces, with an interconnected hierarchy of

  • National and regional parks
  • Protected archaeological parks
  • Neighbourhood parks
  • Green street links between parks
  • Include golf courses as an integral part.

Framework 5: Capital City Framework

To strengthen the government network, adequate measures are taken to create and manage the Capital District. This opens up new opportunities for the real estate as well as the construction business, which turns out to be a golden opportunity for business investors.

Economic Outcome Projections for the Plan Abu Dhabi 2030

The move of Abu Dhabi Plan 2030 is made to leverage the growth limit of the Emirate. Specific economic projections were built based on different business sectors.

Do check the details regarding each of them below:

Residential

It is projected to see a substantial positive inclination regarding the demand for residential units across all possible sectors of the market. The increasing population in the Emirate will demand more residential as well as commercial state, and the plan 2030 is getting developed to suit the future needs accordingly.

This enables a potential market for the real estate sector and a businessman who wants to start a real estate business in the Emirate.

Office Space

The office space will see a drastic positive shift with the implementation of the program. This would ultimately demand more physical space for business establishment, which is a golden opportunity for business owners planning to invest in the co-working industry and real estate business in the UAE.

Retail

With the intense growth of the population, the demands for groceries and other necessities will increase simultaneously. As a result, there will be an increasing demand for retail shops.

As per the plan, the Government is also trying to implement the best practices to increase the utilization of land, which means there will be no trouble in setting up retail outlets.

Hospitality

The Abu Dhabi Environment Agency

The Environment Agency Abu Dhabi (EAD) is the Middle East’s largest environmental regulator committed to protecting and enhancing air quality, groundwater, and the biodiversity of the Emirate’s desert and marine ecosystems. On 1st October 2019, the EAD published the updated priorities and sub-priorities that would be the aims/goals for making the Environment Vision 2030 a successful governmental campaign.

The Environment Vision was developed for the Emirate, considering the three main pillars of sustainability, which are – Environmental, Economic, and Social Vision.

5 Priority Areas specified by the EAD Abu Dhabi

The EAD, in its recent study, identified five critical areas where priority and attention were required; thus, the birth of the Environment Vision 2030. A common concern and point of focus that led to the creation of the campaign was the terrifying impacts of climate change.

The rising temperatures worldwide and melting of polar ice caps instilled a sense of responsibility to do a needful part to prevent any more damage from being caused to the earth. These five priority areas are –

  1. Climate change - minimizing the impact of climate change
  2. Clean air and noise pollution - contribute to safe and healthy living conditions.
  3. Water resources - efficient management and conservation of water resources
  4. Biodiversity, habitats, and cultural heritage - conserved for current and future generations
  5. Waste management - enhanced value creation through optimized material flows and waste management.

It is essential to make sure that the goals are achievable and that the campaign is feasible during long-term implementation. That's where the sub-priorities come in the form of a feasibility plan.

A well-devised plan, as such, depicts how valuable the natural resources are for the UAE, and this will significantly influence the positive branding image of businesses in the UAE that support this government initiative.

The priority areas are further divided into sub-priorities, which in turn are further divided into environmental outcomes. Each outcome has three values assigned to it:

  • Current value - this refers to the benefits of the state of the environment in 2010
  • Threshold value - this refers to a realistic target to be achieved by 2030
  • Sustainability value - this refers to the ultimate desirable target for the state of the environment to be sustainable.

Promoting the Triple Bottom Line

The Triple Bottom Line (TBL) is a framework or theory that recommends that companies commit to focusing on social and environmental concerns just as they do on profits. These government policies have attracted large crowds of investors and businesses to set up business in the UAE

Thus, Emirates has emphasized the TBL framework many times specifying that companies operating in the Arab business market must focus their business on three critical aspects, which are – People, Profits, and Planet.
Abu Dhabi Economic Vision 2030

We are all aware of the middle east region is a hub for the oil business. That makes UAE no less of a player in the global oil economy, considering how valuable resources like petroleum and oil are for all countries.

But in recent years, Emirates, like Abu Dhabi and Dubai, has been experiencing an upscale in the growth of various business sectors. Thus, this is the reason why many business owners are opting for company formation in UAE.

A few important business sectors that have become more substantial contributors to the previously oil sector-dominated economy are Tourism and Hospitality sector, the Education sector, Business Services, Financial Services, and the Technology Innovation Sector.

Considering a bright and prospective future for a diversified economy in coalition with foreign entrepreneurs, innovators, multi-tier investors, and multinational corporate conglomerates; the Abu Dhabi Council for Economic Development (ADDED) outlined a plan of action that was embedded as the Economic Vision in the implementation plan of the Abu Dhabi Vision 2030.

This move will help Abu Dhabi to develop a globalized, culturally competent economy promoting modern-day concepts of sustainability, enterprise innovation, and cohesive growth with public-private partnerships as well as entrepreneurial ventures.
We strive to provide entrepreneurs with an overall package of administrative services to simplify their journey from inception to incorporation in the UAE market. Contact us to know more and expand your business in the middle east.
