This is one of a kind project in the world. This new project of Du Telecommunications, a General Directorate of Residency and Foreign Affairs (GDRFA- Dubai), and Smart Dubai.
The SIM cards will be given to all visitors who are above 18 years of age. The SIM cards will be activated with a “free tourism pack”.
This pack has a validity of one month and can be renewed until the stay of the tourist. As per the rules set by the telecommunication agency in Dubai, the SIM card will be deactivated after 30- days or when the person leaves Dubai.
The main aim of initiating this project was to contribute more to the Dubai Happiness Agenda. This happiness agenda was launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE.
This project was initiated by the Smart Dubai Office and is a tie-up with the Du cooperation to make Dubai a safe and happy place for all tourists. In addition to this, the project was implemented with the directions of the UAE leaders and with a vision to implement the Happiness Agenda and make Dubai the safest place on Earth.
All You Need to Know about the Dubai SIM Card for Tourists
The following are the conditions that must be fulfilled by a tourist to obtain this SIM card:
- The tourist must be an adult above the age of 18 years.
- The travel document must be shown at the immigration.
- Travel documents include a passport and a valid visit visa.
- All tourists with visit-visa, transit-visa, and visa on arrival can avail of this offer.
- The GCC citizens can also avail of this sim card.
- SIM card will be valid for the duration of the stay of the visitor and will be deactivated accordingly, as it is in sync with the immigration system.
- The validity of the SIM card is for 30 days and can be expired after that.
- If the tourist has a longer stay and wishes to extend the validity period, then they can go up according to the plans offered.
- These temporary SIM cards cannot be converted into permanent sim cards.
Currently, the plan is offered only for travelers exiting the Dubai Airport terminals 1, 2, and 3. The initial phase of the “Connect with Happiness” project helps the tourists of these three terminals to take advantage of the complimentary pack offered by Du Telecoms.
Other than the complementary happiness pack, three more top-up packs are offered, namely the small, medium, and large top-up packs.
