There are 200 natural islands in which many are developed one of such islands has been developed into the F1 circuit known as Yas Marina which is one the two Formula one tracks in the Middle East, It also houses the Ferrari Theme park with largest Ferrari logo ever created on the roof. Another island has also created news for being one of the contenders of the 28 official finalists for the "New7Wonders of Nature". The island is also the first and the largest biosphere in the region recognized by UNESCO.

The population of Abu Dhabi is 1.6 million till the year 2010 is expected to reach 2.4 million by the year 2020. About 75% of the population consists of expatriates who have come to long way from home to make this Emirate as their second home.

Abu Dhabi is home to important financial institutions such as the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange, the Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates and the corporate headquarters of many companies and numerous multinational corporations. One of the world's largest producers of oil, Abu Dhabi has actively attempted to diversify its economy in recent years through investments in financial services and tourism. The diversification process had been already been initiated and another grand project of the Abu Dhabi is Plan 2030. Where the Emirate would be transformed into a futuristic city but with out compromising the traditions and heritage of the Emirate.

Abu Dhabi Plan 2030

Abu Dhabi has set up on a journey to transform the city of Abu Dhabi into a world class city by the year 2030 by the vision of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan up on the grand design envisaged by the Late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan. The planned changes include Environment, Land Use, Transportation, Public Open Space, Capital Expression, Urban Design,Social Standards, Economic Development etc.

The project also aims to protect and enhance the enviroment and wildlife in the region. The projected take off time is by the year of 2015 the developmental works would be completed in phases. The Expansion and transformation is in sync with the expected increase of population of 3 million in Abu Dhabi by 2030.
